Eddie Tucker

After an ill-fated attempt to drive a VW van to Lima, Peru in 1970, Eddie Tucker returned to Memphis to begin his career as a graphic designer. During his 30-year career, Eddie has produced work for more than 100 businesses and won over 150 awards including national Addys, the prestigious John Caples Direct Marketing Award, Clios and several New York Art Directors Club awards. Eddie has taught graphic design and advertising art direction at The University Memphis and The Memphis College of Art.
In 1991, he left his position as creative director with Archer-Malmo Advertising to persue more hands-on design, and started Eddie Tucker Advertising & Design. His business specializes in design communications from strategy and conceptual development to full implementation.

Memphis is familiar with much of Eddie’s work, especially his annual Handy Awards poster. Eddie has been donating his services to create and produce the poster for the Blues Foundation since 1982.

In addition to developing printed marketing materials, he also plans and develops interactive media such as the Art Center’s web site.

When he’s not working, he enjoys riding his Harley, which is why the sign in front of his office simply says: “Fast Eddie.”
